Description

The Emlid Reach M2 is a multi-band GNSS module built mostly for UAV (drone) mapping. It gives you centimeter-level accuracy in both RTK and PPK modes. One big advantage: it supports syncing directly with a camera’s hot-shoe, so it logs exactly when a photo was taken, reducing errors when geotagging aerial images.

It tracks many GNSS signals (GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS) on multiple frequencies. It has internal storage (16 GB), can log data in RINEX format, and supports correction methods like NTRIP, VRS, and RTCM3.

Mechanically, it’s compact (about 56.4 × 45.3 × 14.6 mm), weighs ~ 35 g, and works in a wide temperature range (−20 °C to +65 °C).

Overview

If you’re doing aerial mapping with a drone, the Reach M2 helps reduce reliance on ground control points (GCPs) because it logs photo timestamps precisely, giving better accuracy in PPK workflows. Its small size, rugged design, and broad GNSS support make it usable on many UAV platforms. But it needs a compatible base or correction source (unless you’re doing pure PPK with post-processing).
