Construction/Housing Development Marketing Case Study Using DJI M300 RTK
Overview
Green Sky was hired by a construction and housing development company to provide high-resolution 3D model of a development site in Brisbane. The purpose was to use the imagery and 3D model for marketing and promotional materials. Green Sky used a DJI M300 RTK drone for the flight operation.
Process
Green Sky conducted a site survey to assess multiple take off/landing locations and identify any potential hazards. We then used set up a cross-hatched grid flight path with an 80/80 photo overlap and a camera angle set to -60 degrees. The flight altitude was set to 80 meters to ensure high-quality, detailed imagery. The total flight time was 12 minutes.
The DJI M300 RTK drone was equipped with the DJI P1 45MP high-resolution camera capable of capturing detailed imagery of the site. The drone was flown using the pre-planned flight path, ensuring that all areas of the site were covered.
As part of the post-processing workflow, the collected data was imported into software capable of generating a high-quality 3D model. This involved accurately stitching together the individual images captured during the flight, correcting for any distortions caused by the camera lens, and then using photogrammetric algorithms to calculate the precise position and orientation of each point in 3D space. Finally, the data was used to create an accurate and detailed 3D model of the construction site, complete with topographical information such as contours and elevations.
Result
The data captured by Green Sky was provided to the construction and housing development company in the form of high-resolution aerial imagery. The imagery was used in marketing and promotional materials to showcase the development site to potential buyers and investors.
Output
Green Sky provided the aerial imagery and a high-resolution 3D model to the client, which was used for marketing and promotional purposes. The imagery accurately captured the details of the development site and provided potential buyers and investors with a comprehensive view of the project.
